Boston, by Boston, from Boston, was one of the best-selling debut albums of all time. A huge touchstone for the 1970s, Boston (by Boston) was mostly recorded in band founder Tom Scholz’s basement studio. That said, it doesn’t sound like your typical basement album.
Though Boston didn’t release much music due to Scholz’s perfectionist tendencies, they helped define arena rock and were not only influential, but crowd-pleasing. And they couldn’t have asked for a better vocalist to bring it all home than Brad Delp, who tragically took his own life in 2007.
Look back on the prime era of this classic band, and let yourself be transported back to the music scene of the 1970s.
