Daytona Beach's sands didn't hold an official NASCAR race until 1959, but you'd never know that looking at them two years prior.
In 1957, Daytona Beach held its eighth annual "NASCAR International Safety and Performance Trials," featuring over 200,000 spectators and some of the era's fastest cars.
