Good designs stand out. Or, rather, they don't. The best staircase, refrigerator, restaurant or bathroom stall recedes into the background and dutifully functions without you having to think about it. Bad designs, however, make their presence known.

Down below are some of the worst designs spotted in the wild and collected here to remind you not to take the simplicity of everyday life for granted. If you don't notice it, it's probably doing its job right.
