When the Soviet Union was formed, it was the first major world power under a Communist government and they were dedicated to doing everything differently. They were opposed to anything viewed as Western, which meant most architecture and visuals that we all are used to. So they went pretty hard on creating their own aesthetic, and it looks awesome.

Most of us are familiar with their brutalist, boxy buildings, but it goes a lot deeper than that. The Soviets were making crazy, surreal statues, massive helicopters, and all kinds of stuff that feel ripped from the behind the scenes photos of vintage, snowy, vodka-soaked sci-fi film.
