Blood Transfusions at 9 Months Old. Three months later, she began bleeding from her nose and gums, and no one knew why. When she was about 9 months, she started getting blood transfusions to replace the blood she was losing. At 2 years old, she started undergoing surgeries that were supposed to help stop the bleeding, but they were unsuccessful.

A Long Awaited Answer. In 2000, Jennifer's grandmother was watching TV when she learned about Dr. Milton Waner, who was performing a surgery on a woman that reminder her of Jennifer. It wasn't until they contacted and met with him that they learned that Jennifer had AVM as well as some benign tumors.
