The gradual accrual of knowledge in a rigorous academic setting that values hard work, incremental progress and mastery of a singular domain of knowledge pales in comparison to the glorious exaltation that is bite-sized factoids with pretty colors. Because if they're going to take up space in your head and be useless -- like the overwhelming majority of everything you ever learned -- it should at least be a fun process.
