History is a fascinating subject that I honestly believe we don't spend nearly enough time getting people excited about. A lot of it has to do with what we're taught - a lot of lazier history curriculums just want you to memorize dates - "Columbus sailed the ocean blue back in 1492," and other crap like that - without actually gaining a real understanding of what was happening at the time and how it mattered. History classes also have a disappointing tendency to leave out strange or salacious details about the people it glorifies - like how Benjamin Franklin was a notorious ladies' man well into his 70s, was likely a member of a notorious underground sex club, and preferred MILFs over young ingenues because they were more experienced and "so grateful."
Here's a list of other weird historical facts that you probably never learned in school. Whip out these facts at parties and you're sure to be one of the more interesting people in the crowd.
