Most memes aim to give us humor in some form, either through jokes, puns, or the typical overlay of a different situation onto the meme format. One could say that there is an element of deception in all of these, as there is with most humor, as the truth is morphed or hidden slightly either to create humor, as in the case of the puns or dad jokes, or to make humor easier to see, as in the overlays to a meme format.
