It's probably a good idea to keep your mouth closed when you're changing jobs. This employee told their current company that they were moving on. Two weeks before they started their new job, the employer said some new things had come to light that were concerning and that they would have to go in a different direction.

Some advice from the commenters was that they get a lawyer and sue their old employer. Some other people gave some anecdotes of their own and how some employers are just ---holes who want to screw you over any chance they get.
