Look back at when Paul McCartney made a triumphant return to America.
By 1976, it had been a decade since Paul McCartney last toured the U.S.. The Beatles quit touring and eventually broke up in 1970, so fans were doubtful if they would ever see the man live again. Throughout the early 1970s, he did low-profile tours with his new band, Wings, but only in Europe. After several hit records, 1976 was the year he returned to the States with the “Wings Over America” tour. The shows were packed out, critically acclaimed, and resulted in a triple live album to immortalize it all.
See the band hit the road, fly over the country, and entertain the masses who waited a decade for it.
