A porn film was played on a giant screen at a polling station in the middle of the vote count in the Dutch elections. The lesbian sex scene was shown during the official count for yesterday's parliamentary elections. The footage appeared on a large pull down screen, with rude noises reportedly sounding from the speakers. A photograph shows volunteers diligently counting votes while the erotic video plays in the background.

City authorities have been left red-faced over the gag during the election which was won by Prime Minister Mark Rutte. A spokesman for the mayor's office confirmed that a photo taken on the night was genuine. He said: "This was no Photoshop. Of course this does not deserve any praise and should never have happened. "They have sworn to us it will never happen again." The polling station where the porn appeared was inside the canteen of a local football club. As a prank some club members changed the channel from the public broadcaster's election night coverage to a porn movie. A photo of the unexpected scene has now gone viral after being posted on social media . The person who took the photograph called it "locker room humour" and said it was "only a snapshot, just a joke, nothing more, nothing less".

The porn flick was playing for about a minute during the vote counting. Some internet users were worried whether the votes had been counted correctly given the background distraction. Vote counting in the Netherlands is a difficult task given the gigantic ballots including 28 different political parties and 1,114 individual candidates. But the city authorities of Enschede said that at no moment was the process of vote counting infringed. They also voiced their appreciation for the seven people manning the polling place. It is currently unknown if the prankster responsible has been punished for putting on the porn flick. Local football club president Hans Scholten said: "I did not talk yet about that with the board, it will happen tonight." "Even though it is a joke, the consequence for the city and the club were not thought through. "We have a well-regarded name as club and this is important for members and parents.
