Remembering the New York Dolls at Their Glam Punkiest
When glam and punk met to create chaos.

Before punk became known and glam rock had taken the charts, the New York Dolls were showing up, breaking the rulebook and being pioneers in their craft. Emerging from Manhattan in the 1970s underground, they were loud, messy and magnetic.
Their style became recognizable very fast, dressed like they’d just raided every thrift shop they went to mixed with burlesque show couture. They mocked rock while rebuilding the rules of it, making their sound by mixing theatrics and defiance.
Their spotlight didn’t shine for very long, but their legacy never faded, they inspired bands like The Ramones and S*x Pistols and made it clear that every rebellion is better if it comes with lipstick and a lot of nerve.
