Myrtle Corbin, 1880. She was born a dipygus having two separately functioning pelvises. This included four legs. All of her legs were movable, but the inner legs were too short, and not strong enough to walk on.

Babe Ruth crashed into the concrete wall at Griffith Stadium on July 5th, 1924. The legend was knocked unconscious for a period of 5 minutes while doctors literally poured water on his face in an effort to wake him. He obviously survived.

Death by firing squad was very popular after World War II. This is German general Anton Dostler who was killed by a 12-man squad in December, 1945.

In 1981, Muhammad Ali literally talked this man (only known as Joe) down off the ledge. He was a veteran trying to commit suicide, before Ali intervened and saved the man's life.

1960s Istanbul was wild. Bars would offer to carry drunks home in a basket. This proved to be easier said than done.

Golden Gate Bridge construction, 1935 (Colorized.) 19 men fell off the bridge into a safety net while the bridge was being built.

The world's heaviest man, Robert Earl Hughes. He weighed in at 1,071 pounds.

Young Ivanka Trump with her father, Donald. Just knowing how Trump would talk about her having 'the best body' makes this picture feel really eerie.

On the morning of 9/11/01, Ladder 3 was one of the very first firetrucks to arrive at the World Trade Center.

Tragedy struck on May 15, 1974 in Coney Island. 21-year-old Mark Matays fell to his death after police tried desperately to stop him from jumping off the top of a housing project building.

Princess Diana went to Italy to unwind. This picture was taken in 1997, one week before her untimely death.

Juliane Koepcke, 1971. Juliane is a survivor. Her plane was hit by lightning, she survived the crash and subsequent 2-mile fall back to earth. She then survived 11 days hiking through the Peruvian rainforest with a broken collarbone and multiple lacerations.

"Miss Beautiful Eyes" pageants were a huge hit back in the 1930s. Women would wear masks like these to only reveal their eyes.

As awful as this photo looks, there is some humor in its backstory. In 1940 when the Germans occupied France, the French actually cut lift cables to the tower. So in order to hang signs and flags like this, German soldiers would literally have to climb the whole way up the tower.

This photo was taken from inside Japan Airlines Flight 123 at the time it was going down. It would end up crashing into Mount Takamagahara.
