In the smoky clubs and late night cafes of New York, a quiet rebellion began to take shape. The Beat Generation was born, a generation of writers, poets and wanderers that wanted to change the world.
They were seekers of truth in a decade that was obsessed with appearances, they rejected conventional norms and challenged the postwar obsession that still lingered in the air, giving rise to the “beatniks.”
A subculture that was draped in turtlenecks, berets, dark sunglasses and who liked to question everything. They filled coffeehouses with cigarette smoke and turned poetry into a protest, making a movement that changed and entire generation.
