This Is What Halloween Looked Like In 1973

Let’s step back into a special time in 1973, Halloween, back when it was very weird, wildly creative, and just a little bit terrifying. Kids roamed the streets in plastic masks that smelled like cheap paint and sweat, clutching their pumpkin buckets filled candy that could send a grown adult to the emergency room.
Costumes were homemade or store-bought from the corner drugstore, and the thrill of the night wasn’t in perfect outfits or in excess planning, it was in the freedom to be spooky, silly, and very strange.
These photos remind us of a time when Halloween was charmingly simple, eerie, and filled with heart and too many chocolates and candies. No filters, no fancy lighting and no worries about a sugar rush, just real, retro Halloween magic frozen in time.
