Welcome to 1751 Market Street, a three-story nightmare. The tenants of one San Francisco apartment building have banded together to file a $10 million lawsuit against the owner for making their living environment basically uninhabitable. But ten million bucks sounds like a lot of money. Could it really be that bad? Oh, it really is. And trust me...for those of you renting apartments, this story will make all of your landlords look like saints in comparison. The rent per apartment is $1,751, which looks uncannily similar to the address. But once you find out what goes on here, that number will seem much less cute. -

Here is a nest of bed bugs on a door hinge. For years, tenants have been complaining to building owner Adib Khouri that the building has been infested with both bed bugs and mold, but to no avail. -

Oh, and there are roaches. Lots of roaches. -
4.
A murder occurred in the building last year...which everyone knows because the victim's blood remains splattered on the wall. One of the tenants actually happens to be the brother of the victim, and he's forced to see his blood on the wall every day. -

Then there's the problem with the pipes. Apparently the tubs and sinks randomly fill up with sewage every once in a while. Imagine taking a shower and somehow ending up much dirtier (and smellier) than before. On top of all this (literal) crap, Khouri has been accused of unlawful rent hikes, as well as harassing tenants at work for not paying. The lawyer representing the tenants in this case says he has two full pages of complaints going back two decades. The trial is set for August, so let's all tune in and live vicariously through these tenants as they get revenge on their cartoonishly bad landlord.
