A former Campbell’s Soup security analyst is suing the soup maker, alleging he was fired for reporting inappropriate behavior he encountered during a meeting with Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer Martin Bally.

The plaintiff in the lawsuit, Robert Garza, claims that what he assumed would be a routine salary negotiation with Bally turned into an hour-long tirade. During the meeting, he says the VP launched into bigoted remarks about Indian employees, denigrated Campbell’s soup products as “disgusting,” and labeled anyone who buys their product an “idiot.”

As any smart employee would, Garza pulled out his phone and began recording, letting Bally dig his own grave. During the one-hour and fifteen-minute rant, Bally claimed that Campbell’s uses “bioengineered” meat in their soups and said he wouldn’t “wanna eat a piece of chicken that came from a 3D printer."

A representative from the Campbell’s Soup Company told Newsweek that the statements made in the recording did not reflect the values of the company and that Bally had been placed on leave while they investigated the matter.

While this whole incident is certainly gross, it’s sadly not very surprising.
