To paraphrase John Mulaney, we all grew up thinking quicksand was going to be a much bigger problem than it actually is. While cartoons make it seems like something you could just come across on your way to work, in reality, most of us will go our whole lives without ever having to deal with the stuff.

I say “most of us,” but that doesn’t mean “all of us.” In fact, if you’re not careful, you could very easily fall victim to quicksand, as this beachgoer did upon digging too deep into the ground.
