Taking dating advice from Gen X is already questionable enough, but taking dating advice from billionaires is even worse. Bill Ackman, the easily roastable billionaire hedge fund manager and failed pro-tennis player, has decided to offer young men some romantic guidance, which, if it weren’t so lame, would actually be good.
Ackman, known for posting annoyingly long rants on X, says young men are constantly asking him how to meet women in public. To settle the matter once and for all, he’s offered up his best piece of dating advice: simply asking women, “May I meet you?”

Ackman thinks being straightforward, polite and using proper grammar are key to meeting people in the real world. And he’s not wrong — talking to strangers is a skill, and like any skill it improves with practice. If you want to meet someone, in this case a woman, you eventually have to talk to them.
However, if you see someone at a bar and you’re thinking of starting up a conversation, just start with, “Hi, my name is…. [your name].”
