As straight human males, we impress women by… Well, let’s be honest: Most of us don’t “impress” women. Any attempts to do so — sports cars, jewelry, etc. — will have you looking like more of a loser than an Alpha Male, and at the end of the day, you’re going to be happiest if you settle down with the person who you don’t feel you have to impress at every moment of the day.

All that said, that’s definitely not how it works in the animal kingdom. Animals need to strut their stuff to show what a good father, or at the very least, pipelayer they’ll be. When such actions are ineffective, it can be pretty funny to watch, as is the case with this pheasant’s failure of a seduction dance.
