Cop Attempting Pit Maneuver Fails and Slams Into Random Building

Tried the pit, ended up in the shit.

They’ll never admit it, but cops really love getting into car chases. Ninety percent of their job involves either bothering everyday people or filling out paperwork — so when they get the opportunity to rev it, you know they’re going to take it!

One of the things that cops *love* to do during car chases is a PIT maneuver. This is where you try to Jason Bourne a car off the road by slamming into the side of it and causing it to veer off-course.

The problems with this idea are manifold. First, it’s hard to do. Second, when done correctly, there’s a significant risk of a rollover, which can injure not only the person inside the car, but their passengers or anyone nearby. Finally, “veering off-course” means that both the car being chased and the police car can end up basically anywhere.

Case in point, an LAPD officer was trying to do a PIT maneuver when they failed and crashed into a nearby unrelated business. The suspect later crashed his car anyway and was taken into custody.
