Doctor Explains How A.I. Might Put Him Out of a Job
Looks like “go to med school” and “learn to code” aren’t the safe bets they used to be.

Every generation is given different advice about which degrees are best for future employment. For a long time, the accepted wisdom was “get a business degree” — until people realized that business schools are fake and the limited science they actually base their teachings on is mostly bullshit.
From there, advice-givers went in two different directions. Instead of business school, the smart money was now on medical school or computer science.
Except the “smart money” wasn’t actually that smart. There are now far, far more coders than there are coding jobs, and even if you manage to land a coding job, the rise of LLMs means that the job is actually pretty easy — and you’re not going to get handsomely compensated for it like you were in the past.
How about medical school, then? Well, the American Medical Association will *always* make sure that doctors are well-compensated (even if it means that we get shittier and more expensive care). Still, there’s a chance that the job could be changing significantly given the rise of A.I., as this doctor explains.
Thank God I got a degree that was bullshit from the beginning! I *still* don’t know what “Communications” means!
