A man in Brazil put on his flip-flops, downed a few drinks and then decided, “Hey, there’s a five-mile race in town today — how about I check it out?”

Check it out he did. Well, he didn’t only check it out — he raced in the dang thing, drunkenly stumbling from beginning to end while wearing flip-flops. While he wasn’t officially registered in the race, organizers still decided to give him a medal.

This story also has a fun turn. After he went viral, the racer, Isaque Pinho, says he’s given up alcohol and is deciding to pursue running more actively. Hey, good for him!
