German Supermarket Has Very Unfortunate Method of Opening Freezers
Really could have learned a lesson from history here.

Supermarket technology has, well, not “improved,” but certainly gotten more complicated over the past few years. For example, in some cases, items have been locked behind glass, requiring you to harass the limited staff running the store into unlocking the case for you. In other cases, the glass fridge doors that allow you to see what’s inside have been replaced by TV screens that, uh, allow you to see what’s inside.
I love living in the future!
In Germany, supermarkets are going through their own process of innovation — a process that apparently hasn’t included trying to figure out how this new tech would look to an outside observer. For example, this fridge door will only open with a very specific hand gesture.
I don’t know if there are any history buffs reading this, but “Germany” and “hand gestures” don’t have the best track record!
