A modder has received a cease-and-desist letter from Nintendo. Now, it’s a playable character.

An internet user named Mooshies has a little hobby. They modify Super Smash Bros. Melee, doing things like adding in characters from the popular mobile game Balatro, and then allow paid subscribers to download those mods. Fun, right?
No. Not fun, says Nintendo. The company recently responded to Mooshies’ hobby by, according to them, sending them a cease-and-desist. How did they respond? Well, by scanning the cease-and-desist, then modding Super Smash Bros. once more so that the letter would be a playable character in the game.
Oh yeah, you can also download the character for yourself.
Pretty cool, Mooshies — but I’m going to guess you might be adding another cease-and-desist into the game, too. And, if you’re particularly unlucky, a full summons.
I put my Cease & Desist Letter from Nintendo into Melee!
