Remember when the OceanGate submersible lost contact? Around this time, news stations were quick to cover the story, speculating about how much oxygen the crew had left and what could be done to rescue them if they ran out.
In the time since, however, it became pretty clear that the thing probably imploded the second they lost contact. Subsequent investigations revealed that the thing was long known to be a death trap, and at the time that the submersible lost contact, there were reports of the sound of something imploding — making “the thing is gone” a pretty reasonable conclusion to come to.
