For as long as we’ve been studying dinosaurs, we’ve been trying to figure out what they looked like. Unfortunately for us, every new discovery about the creatures shows just how wrong our previous assumptions were.

For example, we often think of dinosaurs as scaly creatures that basically just had flesh stretched over bone (think pretty much any other media property involving dinosaurs), but in reality, that’s likely far from the truth.

In fact, it’s more likely that dinosaurs basically just looked like big birds — though, as you can tell from this edited movie clip, this fact does sort of make films like Jurassic Park feel a bit ridiculous.
