Throughout history, there have been reports of spontaneous combustion. This is where a thing or, more terrifyingly, a person, suddenly explodes with no apparent cause.

Nowadays, stories of spontaneous combustion are largely unheard of, as we have a pretty good understanding of why things go boom. For example, if you fill a car with gasoline, or let natural gas leak throughout a house, there’s a significant chance that it will blow up—and that’s more than likely what happened to this house in Swan Hills, Alberta, Canada.
