‘I Am Evil’: California Mayor Announces Desire to Poison the Homeless

And it’s not even the first time he’s said it!

Every city must face the issue of homelessness. While solving the problem is quite easy on paper (you know, just give them homes), finding the political will to resolve the issue for good is a much bigger ask.

Over the years, many have proposed their solutions to creating a better world for the unhoused. Now, Lancaster, California Mayor R. Rex Parris says he has his own solution: poisoning them with fentanyl.

And yes, he did say this in public.

At an August 13th city council meeting, he repeated a statement that, “metaphorically,” he would like to give the homeless population of his city fentanyl, implying that it was a reasonable way to get rid of them. Naturally, he clarified that he would only give it to the “criminal” homeless population. But, for some reason, many in the audience weren’t comfortable with the idea that a simple corner store stickup should mean that you lose the rights to your life.

When told that this was, you know, evil, he responded, “Well, then I am evil.” Hey, at least he’s open about it.

Why do I say that he’s repeating the statement? Well, back in April, he said basically the same thing, telling an audience that he’d like to give the homeless free fentanyl. He also stated that it was a metaphor — reiterating that he’s not only an idiot, but he also doesn’t seem to understand what the word “metaphor” means.
