Last night, Amazon Web Services (AWS) experienced a major outage that crashed over a thousand websites and crippled the Ring doorbell app. The issue was first reported at 3:11 a.m. ET, and by 6:35 a.m., Amazon confirmed its services had been fully restored.
The outage affected platforms like Reddit, Snapchat, Fortnite and Disney+, and according to Sky News viewers, it kept Ring users from looking through their peepholes and monitoring their home security cameras. Downdetector, a website used to track internet outages, counted 6.5 million reports from people experiencing connectivity issues.
So let this be a lesson, the next time your RIng doorbell goes out, try looking out of a window!
