Influencer Cries That She Missed Her Flight Because ChatGPT Told Her She Didn’t Need a Visa

You know that both your government and the other country’s government have websites for this exact purpose, right?

If you’re traveling to another country, you might need a visa. There are plenty of sites that allow you to do this, including ones run by your own government. If you’re American, the State Department has a drop-down menu where you can select a country, then be told exactly what you need to enter whatever country you want. Isn’t that nice?

A site where you absolutely should not do this is OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Recently, an influencer couple went viral after filming themselves crying in the airport because they were barred from boarding their flight. The reason? They didn’t have a visa or ESTA — because ChatGPT told them that they didn’t need one.

“Look, I always do a lot of research, but I asked ChatGPT and they said ‘no,’” one of the influencers explained. They did eventually get their ESTA and made it to their destination.

Yeah, you’re not going to get sympathy from me on this one.
