Do you have fond memories of being a child? You probably do, because you were a kid. The world wasn’t an inherently better place back then; you were just twelve years old and dumb. If you have any brain whatsoever, you’ve probably already realized this by now.

However, this is the internet we’re talking about, and the collective IQ of many social media users can be represented by a handful of dice. Therefore, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that people are lusting after a bygone era — it’s just weird that the bygone era is 2012.

Right now, the internet is slowly being filled with “nostalgia” videos about the events of 13 years ago. Skate shoes, neon hair streaks, gaining lifelong trauma backstage at Warped Tour — you may think that we were past this era, but apparently, some people wish that we were back in the glory days of Party Rocking and One Direction.

What does it mean that people so desperately wish to return to 2012? I don’t know — if you want to get your lip pierced and ride around on a skateboard you’ll never learn to ollie, you still can. That said, if your parents weren’t already putting pressure on you to move out of the house before, this will definitely make them start.
