In the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, people have been struggling to make sense of what exactly happened. In the middle of this, President Donald Trump put out a statement — and people on the internet are convinced that there’s something not quite right about it.

If you watch the video, there are some parts that don’t really line up. For example, early on, you can see the President’s body move unnaturally, with both his hands and the background performing an odd, liquid-like shift. Others have noted some apparently strange vocal tones and the fact that the President is weirdly reserved as signs that this could be an image card that’s been animated with Trump’s voice.

But is this true? Probably not. Watching the video closely, it becomes clear that the “gotcha” moment people are referring to is likely a simple, albeit inelegant, morph cut between two takes. As far as the vocal tones and lack of movement are concerned, it’s a statement prepared and released just hours after Kirk’s passing — some things aren’t going to be perfect.
