Technically, they were made in Maryland.

A Maryland woman went viral and was labeled as a “Karen” after causing a scene in her local fish market, accusing the owner of deceiving customers about the origin of his Maryland crab cakes. What began as a local confrontation has blown up across TikTok and Reddit’s “TikTokCringe” community.

The woman, who has not been identified, demands to know where the crab in her crab cakes came from. She’s upset because she thought she was buying “authentic Maryland” crab when, in reality, she was buying crab from either Venezuela, Indonesia, or, as the shop owner puts it, “the Gulf of America.”

The encounter ends with her calling the fishmonger a fraud and a fake for trying to disguise his “inauthentic Maryland crab cakes” as the real thing.

And if you know anything about Marylanders, you know they take their crab cakes very seriously.

@robbieraay This is who they have representing G&M this is the attitude you get for asking if the crab in the Maryland crab cakes are from Maryland #crabcakes#seafood#marylandtiktok#fyp#foryoupage♬ original sound - GhettoGarageTv
