Phew.

Words that sound totally fine in some languages may sound pretty bad in others. For example, in English, the word “gift” means “present”; in German, giving someone a “gift” means you’re giving them poison.
While this mix-up is pretty severe, it’s not as bad as some languages — specifically, some East Asian languages in which there are a loooooot of words that come dangerously close to sounding like the N-word.
Korean superstar Psy recently stopped his show after noticing some non-Koreans in the audience. With a look of slight horror, he clarified that he wasn’t just saying the N-word a whole bunch, but that the phrases “I am” and “you are” in Korean sound vaguely like the word people use to describe who was in Paris.
@nominbrave How cool is he please? Omg, i love his mannerism. #fyp#fypシ゚viral#fypシ#trending#psy @PSY ♬ original sound - nominbrave
