Overnight, it seems like every movie theater migrated over to assigned seating. Way back when, every movie ticket was effectively a “sit anywhere” pass; now, even the shittiest theaters make you go to the seat printed on your ticket.

If you don’t do this, there can be issues. For example, this guy was asked to move to the seat matching his ticket, and rather than do that, he opted to freak out at the one employee telling him to please, for the love of God, just be normal.
