There is a psychological phenomenon called HPP (High Place Phenomenon), or the “Call of the Void,” which urges humans to jump from high places. I’m sure you’ve felt this while standing on an observation deck or taking in the view at the Grand Canyon.

A majority of the time, the thoughts aren’t suicidal as most people don’t actually want to leap to their deaths. However, if you’ve ever felt it, you know I’m not making it up.

Well, one man let this intrusive thought win — sorta. In fairness, he didn’t have many options as he was running from the police in a mall after allegedly stealing a pair of glasses. And so, he jumped, breaking both of his legs in the process.

If only he had stolen some crutches. After all, he’s going to need them.
