Meta’s New A.I. Glasses Failed Twice During Their Debut
Good work, Mark!

Facebook has attempted many rebrands over the years. From their name change to Meta in order to focus on the Metaverse (remember that?) to their new focus on A.I., wherever the winds of Silicon Valley are blowing, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is there to follow them — usually with a couple billion dollars pouring out of his pockets along the way.
But, unlike the Metaverse, the company insists that all of this A.I. stuff they’ve been blowing investment on isn’t just hype. They say A.I. will change the world, and to prove that fact, they recently debuted some A.I.-powered glasses that allow one to use artificial intelligence to interface with the world around them.
While they’re cheaper than most people expected, you still probably don’t want to buy them. That’s because, during the company’s presentation on their new device, the product failed. Twice.
First, it was unable to help a chef prepare a proper sauce, somehow convincing itself that the cook had already performed the first step of making the sauce despite being able to see that he hadn’t. Second, Zuckerberg tried to answer a video call several times with his glasses, only for the glasses to fail every single time.
But hey, if you want to blow $800 on these things, be my guest.
