On Running Is Being Sued Because Its Shoes Are Embarrassingly Squeaky
As if being seen at the gym wasn’t embarrassing enough.

On Running, known for making shoes that are sometimes worn by runners but mostly worn by wannabe tech bros, is currently facing a lawsuit. Why? Because their shoes are, allegedly, much too squeaky to be taken seriously.
The class action lawsuit targets shoes using their “CloudTec” technology. According to plaintiffs, these models are squeaky to the point of embarrassment.
While they admit the squeak may be “seemingly inconsequential,” they say that those who have complained about this issue have been stonewalled. Plaintiffs say the company has offered “no relief” to customers who spent “almost $200 shoes they can no longer wear without their doing significant DIY modifications.”
“No reasonable consumer would purchase Defendant’s shoes — or pay as much for them as they did — knowing each step creates an audible and noticeable squeak,” the lawsuit reads.
Only time will tell if they actually win this case, but if you watch videos of the squeak, it actually is pretty loud. If they don’t win, let’s hope the company still rolls out a fix — we don’t need our local running groups getting even *more* obnoxious.
