‘She’s Just Trying to Get Some Money’: Cardi B’s Courtroom Responses Are Absolutely Incredible

Cardi B is currently on trial for assault — and she really isn’t taking the whole thing too seriously.

The rapper is being accused of assault by a security guard named Emani Ellis. According to Ellis, she was working her security job for an obstetrician's office when she saw a pregnant Cardi B arrive — to which she exclaimed something like, “Wow, that’s Cardi B!”

Ellis alleges that this reaction caused Cardi to freak out, as her pregnancy wasn’t yet public knowledge. This freakout involved cutting her face, calling her fat, spitting on her, and “flailing her arms up and down.”

Cardi B flatly denies that much of this occurred. She denies it so strongly, in fact, that she’s turning the whole thing into a joke. In her responses, she makes the jury laugh multiple times, repeatedly accuses Ellis of just wanting money and seems to imply that Ellis is, if not overweight, just heftily built.

We still don’t know the jury’s determination, but if testifying is about winning the hearts of the jury, it really seems like she’s done it — or, at the very least, amused them.
