People Are Using OpenAI’s Sora to Torture Stephen Hawking
This feels evil.

Stephen Hawking, the famed theoretical physicist and cosmologist, passed away in 2018 from complications with ALS, a disease that left him confined to a wheelchair and reliant on a computer to communicate for most of his adult life.
Well, he’s back, sort of.
Thanks to OpenAI’s Sora, the ghost of Mr. Hawking is back, and he’s shredding. Videos of Hawking dropping into a half-pipe, racing NASCAR, and leading police on a high-speed chase are just a few of the scenarios the internet is imagining. And it all feels very cursed.
This week, OpenAI reportedly began clamping down on copyright infringement after people used Sora to make videos of Pikachu storming the beaches of Normandy and SpongeBob being pulled over by the police. It’s unclear whether OpenAI will place any restrictions on Stephen Hawking’s likeness in the coming days.
I don’t know about you, but when I die, you do not have permission to torture me for all of eternity.
