‘The Wizard of Oz’ at the Sphere Looks Like a Bad Fever-Dream

We’ve all seen videos of the Sphere in Las Vegas, both inside and out, and while it looks like a great place to drop a tab and watch your favorite band, it’s not the best place to see a movie — at least judging by videos of the brave souls who decided they needed to see The Wizard of Oz on the Sphere’s 240-foot-tall, 16,000-square-foot screen.

I can’t believe I’m the one saying this, because it feels like something tailor-made for me, a lover of dumb ideas. But seeing a movie with 18,000 other people is a special kind of hell for me.

Actually, on second thought, dropping a tab and watching 50-foot-tall flying monkeys does sound like a great time — if only it didn’t cost $182 a ticket.
