People Are Mixing Cleaning Supplies for TikTok Clout and Accidentally Filling Their Homes With Toxic Gas

This new TikTok trend could literally kill you.

It’s become a thing among CleanTokers (yes, they’re a real thing) to pour a variety of cleaning products and powders into one large bin in an attempt to “organize” their shelf space.

The only problem is that mixing borax, bleach and laundry detergents isn’t just a waste of time, it’s dangerous. Back in May, a separate CleanTok trend went viral, with equally dangerous effects, that was called the “toilet overload” trend. It involved people combining various bleaches and cleaning chemicals into their toilets. At the time, the National Capital Poison Center warned, “Mixing bleach with an acidic cleaner releases chlorine gas, which was used as a chemical warfare agent in World War I.”

The good news, so far, there have been no reported deaths due to CleanTokers successfully making mustard gas, but all it takes is one person, before the “fun” is over.
