Two TikTokers had a very strange weekend after asking to be booked to Nice, France — only to end up with a ticket to Tunis, Tunisia. Unfortunately for them, they didn’t realize this mix-up until they were already on the plane. You’d think they’d get a clue when they entered the line for an AirTunisia flight to a place called “Tunis,” but apparently not!

Documenting this experience on TikTok, the pair showed the entire process of their error, from asking several people on the plane whether they were going to France (only to be met with laughter) to actually ending up in the country of Tunisia.

Why didn’t they just get off the plane once they realized the problem? Commenters say that they had checked bags, and so, airplane staff told them that the best course of action was to take the flight, get the bags back and then get rebooked later.

This turned out to be more difficult than expected. After several infuriating hours — infuriating for two reasons: 1) no one really wanted to help them; and 2) they kept explaining their situation really, really poorly while complaining about being stuck in “Tunis, Africa” — they eventually managed to get a flight and leave Tunis.

Which is a shame, as Tunisia is an underexplored destination with plenty of great food, wonderful beaches and historic sights to see — but if you want to be the ten millionth Americans to spend their vacation in France, be my guest.
