‘Traumatizing Our Preschoolers In 3, 2, 1…’: Teachers’ ‘Butterfly Release’ Immediately Goes Wrong

In school, a lot of students have to dissect a frog. I’m sure there was a purpose to this, but I’m not sure exactly what it was — while we definitely had to identify what was inside the thing, I feel like the same message could have been delivered by just showing us a picture.


I guess, if I had to choose one lesson that could be taken from this part of school is that things, eventually, die. These kids have now learned that lesson firsthand after their teacher tried to release a butterfly into nature.
