I’ve gone from being sympathetic, to less sympathetic, to just straight angry at people who get their cars or trucks hit by trains. I know, there are one-in-a-million instances in which there’s a freak conflagration of factors that result in an accident where no one is at fault. I get that. But 99 times out of 100, someone who gets their car hit by a train is both wrong and an idiot. Just avoid the train tracks — it’s really not that hard!

In this case, we’re not really sure what happened. Authorities are currently investigating whether the truck got stuck on the tracks or merely tried (and failed) to outrun the train. The crossing barriers were operating correctly at the time of the collision, so who knows!
