The government of Myanmar is taking a hard stance against drugs. This is due in part to the fact that international agencies have repeatedly accused the country of not doing enough to curb drug production and sales, with Southeast Asia’s Golden Triangle region (where the borders of Myanmar, Laos and Thailand meet) being known as a place where methamphetamine production is rampant.
In order to show how seriously they’re taking the problem, the Myanmar government decided to burn a bunch of seized drugs, including opium, heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, ketamine and more.
