After Alec Baldwin crashed his wife’s Range Rover into a tree, he put out a video on Instagram trying to explain exactly what happened.

“This morning, I got into a car accident. Some guy cut me off in a truck — a huge garbage truck. I mean, a garbage truck the size of a whale…To avoid hitting him, I hit a tree. I hit a big fat tree, and crushed my car — my wife’s car,” he stated.

Now, we have video of the incident and, well, it’s not exactly clear what happened.

In a dashcam video taken by the garbage truck, you can see the truck quickly turn into the right parking lane. Balwin’s car suddenly appears from the right side of the frame and smashes into a tree.

If we had to guess, it looks like Baldwin was trying to pass the truck on the right when it began moving over. Rather than hit the truck, he swerved off the road and ended up plowing into a tree instead.

At least everyone’s okay!
