Admittedly, kitchen fires are a bit counterintuitive. When something goes kaboom in the kitchen, it’s not always a smart idea to just cover the thing with water. In fact, in many instances, doing so can make things substantially worse and increase your risk of injury.

That’s why it’s important that any cook, from novice to expert, be aware of proper kitchen safety procedures. Or, at the very least, they need to know not to do whatever the hell this woman was doing:
