Woman Says Internet Troll Canceled Her Flight After She Accidentally Posted Her Booking Confirmation Online

This is why you don’t post your personal information online.

Imagine this: You book your dream vacation. Knowing that you just can’t keep it to yourself, you decide to post about it online — only for someone to use that information to ruin the whole thing.

That’s exactly what happened to one internet user from Australia. After booking a flight from Cairns, Australia to Singapore, she shared the news on social media, inadvertently exposing her booking confirmation in the process.

Of course, all you need to cancel a flight is the confirmation number. So, some internet troll saw her confirmation number, found her full name from her social media account, called up the airline, and canceled her flight.

Funny enough, this isn’t the first time an Australian has fallen victim to public oversharing. Back in 2020, former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott posted a boarding pass on Instagram, and whitehat hackers were reportedly able to access his phone number and passport information, then warn the government of the issue.

Guess they do internet security a little differently down under!
